Tips & Tricks
Remove surface stains with ease
We all know that grease and dirt build up on surfaces over time. A simple way to clean this off is to heat a slightly damp sponge or cloth. Put on a pair of rubber gloves, spray the cabinets with an all-purpose cleaner then wipe off the cleaner with the hot sponge or cloth.
Gently soak up spills
Using microfiber clothes instead are a great way to make cleaning up of spills or mess easy. These cloths are composed of ultrafine synthetic fibers that are woven together to create a “microfiber.” The fibers rub together during cleaning, creating a static charge that attracts dirt and dust. The tiny fibers have sharp edges that scour well, but they aren’t abrasive, so they won’t scratch surfaces. Microfiber cloths leave a streak- and lint-free finish, are very absorbent, and can be washed and reused.
Eliminate steam on your bathroom mirrors
Do you hate when your bathroom mirrors steam up? Well an easy cheap way to fix this is by regularly rub a dry bar of soap over the surface and rub in with a clean cloth. This will create a fine layer of soap that wont cause steaming.
Get rid of pesky pollen
Do you have an issue with pollen from flowers falling onto table cloths? Simply take a piece of sticky tape about five centimetres long, gently press the sticky side to the pollen mark and lift off. Repeat with clean sticky tape as required. Do not try to brush it off, as this will only spread the pollen.
Fertilise houseplants and go green
If you have a fish tank, save the water each time you change it and water your house plants with it. It’s full of nutrients and makes a great fertiliser.
Stop ants in their tracks
To stop ants entering your house or certain areas, draw a chalk line on the ground where you want them to stop. If you live in a rainy location, you must re-draw the chalk lines each time it rains.
Stop shoes having a bad odor
Simply sprinkle some baking soda in your shoes! This will remove that not so nice smell in them and you’ll be guilt free having your shoes around the house!
Oust household odors
Coffee lover? To mask unpleasant odors, put some coffee beans in a saucepan and burn them. The smell of coffee will overpower the other nasty odors.
Clean up marker pen stains
To remove permanent marker pen spots off hard surfaces, spray on hair spray and then wipe it off.
Freshen up garlicky hands
To get rid of the smell of garlic from your hands, rub against stainless steel – your kitchen sink is ideal. Then wash hands with soap or detergent.
